About the event

BENA is pleased to announce Kim Pegram, PhD., Program Director of Pollinator Conservation and Research at the Desert Botanical Garden (the Garden).

At the Garden, Kim is responsible for direction of two conservation initiatives: pollinator conservation and research, and rare plant conservation, including the seed bank. She also manages pollinator and butterfly conservation initiatives and research at the Garden. The Garden’s primary pollinator initiative, Great Milkweed Grow Out, helps conserve monarch butterflies and other pollinators in Arizona by propagating and distributing thousands of native milkweeds, outreach into the community and researching how insects interact with milkweed.

In 2022, the Garden and the USA Phenology Network partnered to create a community science project named Desert Refuge. The project was created to help both organizations track monarchs and answer some key questions. To find out how you can participate in this project, visit https://dbg.org/desert-refuge-a-new-way-to-help-monarch-butterflies/.
