About the event

Join Butterfly Enthusiasts of Northern Arizona for a walk to learn about high elevation butterfly species at Aspen Corner, north of Flagstaff. This is a great opportunity to see Northern Arizona's higher elevation species that are not found in the Verde Valley, including an arctic species; the Alberta Arctic, among others.


Parking is limited at Aspen Corner. We will meet at the Museum of Northern Arizona's Colton Community Garden at 8:30 a.m. to carpool (see below for directions to the garden). We will walk approximately 1.5 miles or so (~2 hours), depending on how many butterflies we see. You can expect to be back to your car by noon.


Please note, we will be at high elevation and some parts of the trail are sloped, rocky and uneven. Bring the usual: hat, sunscreen, hydration, snack, binoculars, camera and hiking poles (if preferred) and wear sturdy shoes. There are no restroo…
