About the event

10th Annual Cottonwood Butterfly Count sponsored by the North American Butterfly Association. Have fun counting butterflies while contributing to citizen science. The count circle has a 15-mile radius and includes riparian areas, gardens, state and national park lands and national forest. Participants will be assigned to a butterfly expert group leader and a sector within the count circle.

Counters may join for all or part of the day. No butterfly experience is necessary. BYO binoculars (close-

focusing if you have them), camera (optional), food and field gear. To register, email count compiler Denise Gibbs at Monarchtagger@gmail.com. Include your full name, phone number, your pre-

ferred level of hiking, and whether you can participate all day, half day or a couple of hours. This

information is important in determining the best team assignment. Registrants will receive meeting

place location, directions and last-minute updates. Free, adults only, no pets please.
